Tegata Discounts at BuySumoTickets

In time for the holidays, Buy Sumo Tickets has a discount on their tegata. For a limited time they’re running a discount of 1000-yen on all tegata, excluding bundles.

Recently, I added Terunofuji to my collection so my Hakuho would not be lonely. Again, this year I got my tegata from Buy Sumo Tickets. They had packed it really well last year. It was the same story this year, sandwiched in between pieces of double-thick cardboard.

I do not think Terunofuji will still be an active rikishi when the holidays roll around in 2025. Unfortunately, we learned this week that he will not participate in the upcoming Kyushu tournament.

On the plus side, I might need to make room for another Yokozuna’s tegata in the coming year. So, along with the continued strength of the dollar the timing seemed right to get a Terunofuji.

Looking at the site now, they’ve got Terunofuji plus all three Ozeki (Hoshoryu, Kotozakura, and Onosato) as well as Kirishima, Daieisho, Wakatakakage, Tobizaru, and Hakuoho. They also have Hakuho and Kotomitsuki

If there’s a sumo fan in your life and you’re trying to think of a gift…a tegata is always a good option. You can use the ad link on our website, or you can mention “Tachiai” in the comments on your order and Tachiai will receive a portion of the proceeds to help with some of our hosting costs.

Tegata: A Piece of Sumo Tradition

Thanks to the wonders of the internet, sumo merch is now much more accessible to fans across the globe. If you, like me, want to own a tangible piece of your favourite rikishi, and the idea of stealing a used mawashi sounds too unappealing, then the next best thing is an authentic tegata. A real piece of sumo culture, tegata are truly special items to behold.
