NHK World Japan posted an overview of Kisenosato’s sumo career and his retirement ceremony to YouTube. While fans will recall that we had some audience-recorded video earlier, this is a nice, professional cut of the events that includes behind the scenes / not seen footage.

Aki 2019 Jungyo report – Day 6
Having visited Tochigi, we now go south, back to the center of sumo. Not quite Tokyo, but Chiba prefecture is home to several sumo stables and many savvy fans, as you will see from the number of photos and videos we have today.
By the way, if you want to feel something akin to actually being in a jungyo event, set a couple of hours aside. Hey, it’s Sunday, isn’t it? We have a video at the end of this report which covers almost all the essential points, including a lot of keiko and Makuuchi bouts.

While our friends in Japan try to dry off, the rest of us are enjoying fall weather and looking forward to the Kyushu basho in 4 short weeks from today. That means we are 2 weeks away from Banzuke Sunday in the US.

In days 1-4, we have been traveling around the coast of the Sea Of Japan. Today, we cross the island of honshu eastwards, almost all the way to the ocean side, to the Tochigi prefecture.
