I guess only Americans can call Beppu a nearby city ;-) Thats 1.5-2h ride by train, depending on connection.
Canadians would too — if you can get there without needing to eat a meal on the journey, that’s nearby.
Also considering how punctual Japan transportation is compared to the Americas, you know you’ll get there in 1.5-2 hours where we might not get there for 3-4. Lol
