The team at Tachiai would like to wish everybody’s favorite boulder a very happy twenty-fifth birthday this April 7th! Rumour has it that his heya has ordered twenty-five cakes to celebrate the soon-to-be sekiwake’s big day. I wonder what everyone else will be eating for dessert?

Years and years ago, I attended a practice at Musashigawa heya. Afterwards, I chatted with yokozuna Musashimaru. I was stunned, could hardly believe that this smiling, casual fellow was the same grim, frightening man that I watched on TV.
Its crazy how he finally got a good night sleep when he moved to Japan. He said they always have to look out for wolfs back in Mongolia. Happy birthday Ichinojo.
