Today, Yokozuna Kakuryu went down to his fifth defeat this basho, which is likely a matter of great concern to the YDC and the Japan Sumo Association (NSK). Tamawashi had the Yokozuna off balance from the tachiai, and never let him recover. Pushing forward, Tamawashi moved Kakuryu backwards and out of the ring.

As stated previously, there is a real chance of Yokozuna Kakuryu ending up make-koshi (losing record) this tournament. No news from the Japanese sports press if he re-injured himself or what is driving his troubles, but we all wish him a return to good health and good form.
