Natsu Banzuke (Audio) Podcast

It’s Andy, Josh and Bruce from Team Tachiai discussing the Natsu banzuke, and news from the sumo world as we eagerly await a decision on May 6th on the fate of the May tournament. We cover: Shin-Ozeki Asanoyama, Shodai, Mitakeumi, Terunofuji, Enho and Ura along with the “Ozeki scrap heap” and a log jam of Sadogatake at the bottom of the banzuke.

The video version will be available soon, but for now here is the audio version for your listening enjoyment.

  1. No need to feel sorry for Tokushoryu. He was all set to become just another ex-Maegashira that few but his fans would remember ten years after his retirement. Now he’s written his own name into the history books. It will be there forever, whereas most other guys on the banzuke right now will fade into obscurity. Sometimes I look back at the banzuke of 2007, which is the year I first got into sumo, and I barely recognize half the names. Sometimes a photo jogs my memory but most of the faces don’t ring much of a bell. Tokushoryu has avoided that fate. That’s the thing I love most about his story.
