After 2 straight losses, Texan sumotori Wakaichiro was looking at a 1-2 record heading in to the Haru basho’s middle weekend. His day 7 opponent, Kotourasaki, was roughly his equal in size and experience. Wakaichiro clearly was not entertaining a 3rd loss, and completely blasted Kotourasaki off of the dohyo, firmly reestablishing himself as “in it to win”. Now 2-2, Wakaichiro has a fair chance of finishing Haru with a winning record, and confirming his rank in Sandanme.
