Yokozuna Kakuryu has withdrawn from the Natsu basho. His 1 win 3 loss record was a disastrous start, and it’s reasonable to wonder how much longer it will be before the NSK pressures him to retire.
His withdrawal is blamed on an injury to his left ankle.
