I am in the process of re-organizing and relaunching the tournament archives as more of an annual news archive page. This will be broken down by year. Within each annual page, we will have a summary page for each tournament, as well as other time-sensitive news items, such as Jungyo, promotions, and other content. Those event pages will have links to the archived content in, hopefully, an easy to navigate site.
Over the past ten years, I have realized that a lot of content is time-sensitive and really grows stale shortly after it is written. Thus, the infinite scroll is actually rather appropriate for much of it. Posts of day-to-day content are less and less relevant as time goes by. However, there are so many hidden gems within that content with nuggets of timeless facts about sumo, the Sumo Kyokai itself, or Japanese culture. Those topics deserve their own dedicated homes on the website. And none of it, stale as it may be, really deserves to be lost to the infinite scroll.
The goal with this is will be to reference those timeless pages from within the event-based News content. So if we present news of the upcoming maezumo class of 2024, we reference a page of dedicated content on maezumo.
Is this archive going to be updated? It is an excellent way to organize your content.
