I know what you mean. I live just north of the beltway and it’s a challenge to get into town, even on the weekend. And 270 on a weekday is…unpleasant. I work in DC so I take advantage when I’ve got a free evening or if there’s a good band playing in town.
At some point during my hour-long commute this morning (yet only going 12 mi) I began to wonder whether another destination – outside the beltway – could be easier to get to, especially on a weekend. Tyson’s? At certain times 495 and 270 are a breeze but definitely not during the weekday.
