春場所2016, 3日目: Harumafuji Falls

Someone lit a fire under Kotoshogiku. Tochinoshin is a tough opponent and put up significant resistance…but the hippity-hoppity was too fierce. The yusho winner now leads the four undefeated ozeki as Harumafuji fell to Kotoyuki, who was obviously overwhelmed with emotion after his victory. I really need to update my Harumafuji kinboshi page…

Ikioi and Myogiryu are motivated to get back into sanyaku and lead the maegashira, undefeated, along with Amuru and Ichinojo. The Mongolian is so low on the banzuke he could carry on contend undefeated well into week 2. He and Amuru face-off against each other tomorrow while Ikioi will face Terunofuji and Myogiryu meets Takanoiwa.

Oosunaarashi wants to get back into makuuchi. He tore up poor Akiseyama. Endo improves to 2-1. It’s the first time he’s had a winning record since September. Homarenishiki will hopefully bounce back from the henka loss against the 18-year-old Osaka native, Masuminoru (former Yakabe). Homarenishiki beat him last tournament though both wrestlers ended with 3-4 losing records. It’s the first rematch Homarenishiki has had.
